Defeat

In an elephant’s march

I went to work,

holding tails

with other drivers

who saw the lights

atop the car

that led the downhill march

like our matriach.

Coming home,

I drove too fast,

with my heart

still racing.

And this time

not an elephant’s tail

but a dog’s defeated,

tucked low behind me.

I am participating in the 11th annual Slice of Life Story Challenge (#SOLSC18) hosted by Two Writing Teachers.  We write each day in March as part of an international writing community.  I appreciate any comments, especially those thatslice of life challenge

  • reinforce writing decisions that work and
  • coach into those that don’t.

Think of each comment you leave as a little writing conference we are having together. Come on, make me a better writer today! Thank you!

It seems like disappointment looms with the trip home. It’s ok-all will be well. All things pass with time.

Oh gosh. This is great. I’m left with so many questions, yet so many possibilities to create my own story.
