The morning is quiet; this moment is still. We’ve hiked and boated and seen the wonders of this world. But right now, with the soundtrack of their sleeping breaths, this vacation takes on a different feel. Quiet. Still.
Today we will drive; today we will travel. We will hike more, see more, do more. But right now, through the crack of light of the hotel drapes, this moment is different.
It’s like it is waiting with patient anticipation, holding is breath until the little one clicks through cartoons. Until my husband starts the coffee pot. Until I start the reminders and we start moving out the door.
Soon this moment will be lost in a blur of movement and memory-making. But right now it is quiet. Still.
